Two months without a post, I know, the wait was a bit long. But it wasn't time wasted: this sixth batch is one of the biggest so far. On the menu, a full Azuriom integration, a real role system for teams, and a nice round of fixes.
Your Azuriom site, right inside your launcher
This is THE highlight of this update: a 10th module, Azuriom, which connects your launcher to your server's Azuriom website.
For News and Shop, you pick the source: the Panel or your website. One source per category, no mixing. And if you change your mind, no worries: your Panel content is just hidden, never deleted.
Everything goes through the Launch'it Connector plugin, to install on your Azuriom site:
- Pair it with your launcher using a one-time code; if the code is rejected, the message tells you why
- Choose what you expose directly from the Azuriom admin
- When you publish or edit something on your site, the plugin notifies Launch'it through a signed webhook, so the update reaches the launcher quickly
Fast, and respectful of your players
Your launcher never waits for your website:
- Content is fetched in the background and cached; your players always get an instant response
- If your site keeps failing, Launch'it backs off for a while instead of hammering it, and keeps showing the cached content
- Azuriom articles are cleaned up and converted to display nicely in the launcher, each with a summary
- Images go through a proxy: your players' IP addresses are never sent to your site
Your shop also gets its own showcase inside the launcher, so players can browse your offers without opening a browser.
Roles to organize your team
No more setting permissions member by member: you can now create roles for your team (Moderator, Builder, Staff...), each with its own permissions.
- A member follows a role, or keeps custom permissions if you prefer
- Editing a role updates all its members at once
- Deleting a role takes nothing away from anyone: its members keep their permissions, as custom ones
- You can pick a role right from the invitation. When accepted, the role's current permissions apply (and if the role was deleted in the meantime, the ones set at invitation time)
- For safety, a role that can manage the team can only be created, edited or assigned by the owner
The interface follows: Members / Roles tabs, a preview of a role's permissions, and a permission editor with bulk actions to save you time.
A more comfortable Panel
- The addon editor is now split into 3 tabs (identity, behavior, content), gets bigger, and shows a single preview in Configuration mode
- Slimmer, theme-matched scrollbars across the whole Panel
- Notifications: Mark all as read and Delete all in one click
Fixes
- Microsoft login on Linux (launcher 1.0.7): login crashed on some setups. The launcher now properly uses the Linux keyring, and falls back to local storage if no keyring is available
- Dates: they now show everywhere as dd/mm/yyyy with 24-hour time, whatever the language. On the blog, they follow the page's language
- Addon config preview: removing a single line flagged every following line as changed. The comparison now only shows actual changes
Also
- A maintenance task that silently failed on startup finally works
- Hardened security on the requests Launch'it sends to external websites
- The launcher no longer re-downloads home and shop data when nothing has changed
That's it for now
Thanks for your patience over these two months. Launch'it keeps moving forward, and your ideas really matter: suggestions, wishes, feedback, I'm always all ears. And if you run into any issue, head over to the Support page and I'll take care of it.
See you soon,
~ Sky
